Transcriptors Hydraulic Reference
With Tonearm and Shure Cartridge
This iconic vintage turntable is in absolutely wonderful condition (see close-up pictures), in full & perfect working order and complete with original user manual. It is fitted with Sweep Arm and Stylus Brush, seen in pictures 5 & 6.
The main bearing is spot-on and freshly lubricated, the motor is smooth and silent, the drive belt is fine and 33 / 45 speed change mechanism operates as it should. The good quality Shure M95 MM cartridge is perfect and has just been fitted with a brand new replacement stylus. The acrylic cover is excellent, the lid hinges are fine and the lid support is present. The only thing to mention is the front foot is non-standard, although the replacement does the job intended.
The variable pitch control on this model is effected by the paddle being inserted into the hydraulic fluid bath in order to gradually slow rotation (see picture 11). For obvious reasons this fluid has been removed. If the new owner wants to replace this fluid, the correct silicone is readily and cheaply available from Transcriptors via eBay here
All in all - here is a superb example of an all-time British classic which is fully working and ready to use when connected to your amplifier’s MM phono input.
