Some sellers will claim that any one of a number of similar looking but different Transcriptor or Michell models is the one featured in Stanley Kubrick’s ‘Clockwork Orange’ (including the later Michell version) but this original Transcriptor Hydraulic Reference is the genuine article.
The main bearing is spot-
The variable pitch control on this model is effected by the paddle being inserted into the hydraulic fluid bath in order to gradually slow rotation (see pictures 11 & 12). For obvious reasons this fluid has been removed for shipping. So, if the new owner wants to make use of the pitch adjustment, this fluid will need to be replaced. The correct fluid is readily and cheaply available via eBay. See this eBay listing:-
