The First Generation Original

Here is the original Arcam Alpha CD - The model that really caused waves in the Hi-Fi world when it was unveiled in the early 1990’s.

Designed around the legendary Philips TDA1541A DA converter (see picture 16) and originally retailing at around £460, on its launch the Alpha CD received rave reviews from all the hi-fi press. This model (along with the matching Alpha integrated amp) was a big factor in establishing the Arcam brand worldwide.

This one is in excellent condition and full & perfect working order – playing our badly scratch test CDR without missing a beat.

Currently set for 240 volts mains, conversion to 110/120 volts simply requires the re-positioning of one wire link (see picture 17).

The transport locks are present and will be used for shipping. However… for extra safe transport we have padded the laser to prevent it from flopping about during transport (see pictures (19 & 20). The new owner will need to remove this before use. Just 3 screws and remove the top panel - better safe than sorry.

This will be supplied to its new owner with original user manual, remote control and the correct mains cable.
